Used near the ceiling around the perimeter of a room to support hooks for hanging pictures, or art work to be hung without nails having to be driven directly into the wall. Often combined with crown molding, this type of moulding can be an effective and inexpensive way to cap wall paneling, paper or fabric, or paint and add interest to walls.
