Step up in Style and Durability with Stair Treads from Next Day Moulding Doors and Stairs

While you tread on the stairs day after day, you probably don’t give much thought to your actual stair treads. They are integrated as a safety feature on the stairs to prevent wearing down over time that can lead to falls, but they bring a whole style all their own depending on the nose design you choose.

Stair nosings are that slight overhang you see on each step that protrudes slightly out from the stair itself. And believe it or not, you have a lot of creative freedom with stair treads and nosings.

With stairs in our name, here at Next Day Moulding Doors and Stairs, we’re proud to carry one of the largest selections of in-stock stair parts in the entire region. This means you have access to a wide range of stock treads that you can get delivered to your home or jobsite the very next day. If you don’t see what you want in stock, learn more about our custom capabilities to create a staircase that meets your high design quality and durability standards.

When you’re “stairing” at your unique set of steps, consider which stair nosing styles would best suit your home. The most common stair tread nosing styles we carry are bullnose and square treads. Keep reading to find out more about each one and if its style will mesh with your existing aesthetic. Traditional Bullnose Treads

Bullnose treads are what you’d typically find in a historic, rustic, or more traditional home. Its signature rounded edges give this finish a smooth, elegant look and feel.

Offering the utmost in functional support and visual appeal, bullnose starting steps can be implemented at the bottom of the staircase to add a little bit of sophistication, while providing the necessary foundation for your entire staircase system.  These starting steps replace the first tread and riser and can be used with coordinating bullnose treads on each step to protect and beautify the entire set of stairs.

If you have a staircase exposed at the entrance or a supremely grand staircase visible from top to bottom, bullnose treads are the perfect complement to the refined style of the stair design.

Square or pencil nose treads are gaining traction (no pun intended) in modern or contemporary homes, as the distinct lines and sharp edges create a visual contrast that mimics the aesthetic of these types of homes.

Despite the name, square edges (also known as pencil edge) are actually slightly rounded for safety and practicality. The rounded edges prevent dings or nicks that could lead to bumps and bruises along the way. Square edges take on the shape of a sideways pencil with rounded corners (hence the term “pencil” edge).

These treads offer strength and stability where you need it most, making them great for families where children are prone to stumble.

We carry each stair tread style in various wood species so that you can choose from only the best materials for your home. After all, your stairs take a beating each and every day.
